Join me for this workshop and learn some of the secrets that professional photographers don't want to tell you.

You don't have to be "into photography" to participate in this workshop.
You just have to want to take a better picture
.

Do you ever wish your images had more "wow" factor?
They can!

Hoh Rain Forest, Olympic Peninsula

 Ruby Beach, Olympic Peninsula

Do you come back from vacation with the same old images?
Let's change that!
South Rim, Grand Canyon

It’s not about the camera, and you don’t need Photoshop.
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Peru

Some of you reading this have stood next to me and taken a photo, only to see afterward that the shot I took tells a more interesting story of what we both saw.  Why?  It is not because I might be shooting with a more expensive camera.  Some of my most creative images have been taken with an iPhone. The key is almost always in the composition.

This image was taken with an app on my iPhone.  I will show you how to do this!

I have been asked,“What are you thinking about when you're behind the lens?”  In this workshop I will think out loud, and you will see why it makes a huge difference to shoot a particular image one way versus another.

You will learn to see more creatively and then apply the compositional rules that allow your story to unfold!

High Atlas Range, Morocco

Using before-and-after scenarios, you will be able to see improvements to your own images immediately by using simple techniques that will work for you every time you take a picture.

You might be asking yourself, “What makes her think she can teach me something?”

I think I can, because I am often asked to do so.
On trails.  On planes.  On road trips.
Anytime someone has started a sentence with, "How would you shoot . . ."

Killarney National Park, Ireland

At the end of a Photography for Beginners class in 2008, my instructor suggested I skip the intermediate steps and plunge right into the Advanced Photography class.  He saw my hesitancy, and then said something that stunned me:

“Anyone can be taught the technical aspects of photography, but you have to be born with an eye for it.  You have that.”

Again, in this workshop, I will tell you what I'm looking at before I take each shot to help you develop your own eye for photography.
